Overview
The objective of this documentary is to ask – Are the current perceptions of the missionaries coming to NZ correct? How did the missionaries live back then? What changes did they bring to Maori society? How did what they bring and their lives compare with what Jesus taught?
In recent times there have been misconceptions about the value of the work and message of the missionaries and it has been blended with the actions of the settlers who came later to NZ.
In this documentary our goal is to show what actually happened with the message brought by the missionaries.
Therefore we want to tell this story from a historical perspective with interviews, onsite visits and by referring to historical documents.
Within this context, we will seek to reveal the value, and blessings that come with following the principles and teachings of Jesus Christ. We want to present this as the only way forward.

To untangle the misconceptions held by many today regarding the missionaries, and reveal the benefits of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that they brought.
Scope
Arrival of Missionaries in 1814 to The Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, and the missionaries activities over that period. Touch ligtly on some instances after the Treaty only to create a contrast between the difference between the agenda of the missionaries and the agenda of the settlers.
Look at the hardship, the sacrifices of the missionaries together with the changes in Maori society.
Length, distribution and media
Length - 45-50 minutes long
Filmed in 2160p 25, 422, 10bit. With some B roll filmed in 1080p 50, 422
Edited in Adobe premiere and other Adobe products
Field sound recorded in 32bit 48hz using a Zoom F6 and a combination of lapel mic’s, boom poles – shot gun mics and other mics as needed.
Music will be royalty free from stock sites and created pieces.
The documentary will be made for TV and put onto YouTube. DVDs and MP4 will be made and sold.
